The History of Our Church
Rosedale Hills Evangelical United Brethren Church was established in 1958 as a mission church founded by the University Heights Evangelical United Brethren Church. Rosedale Hills began its walk with Christ through the guidance of founding minister, Reverend Charles Lane, and a generous gift of 6 lots provided by Flossie Beghtel, a 1912 graduate of Indiana Central College (now the University of Indianapolis).
We started our work on September 2, 1958, with a worship service at the Clinton Young Elementary School with 105 in attendance. When we opened up for membership on October 5th, we welcomed 65 new members to our congregation. Fifty years later, we’re still home and a place of worship to those original charter members. Over the next couple of years, we grew and expanded until we introduced the sanctuary and educational wing that included six classrooms, a stage, a fellowship hall, and a patio in November 1966.

As United Methodists, we are obligated to bear witness to Jesus Christ, the living reality at the center of the Church’s life. To fulfill this obligation, we reflect critically on our biblical and theological inheritance and strive to express our faithfulness to God and his Word. The foundation of Christian living is faith in Christ, and faith is what gives purpose and direction to our lives.

Who We Are
Our Past Leadership
In 1968, when the Evangelical United Brethren Church merged with the Methodist Church, Rev. Charles Lane continued as the minister until 1970, when Rev. Walter Meacham was assigned. The other pastors who have served our church are Rev. David Popplewell, Rev. Phill Isgrigg, Rev. Charles Robertson, Rev. Keith Atkins, Rev. George Hunsaker, Rev. Doug Walker, Rev. Doug Wallace, Rev. Jill Moffett and Rev. Amy Lee.
Rev. Sharon Williams
Pastor, Rosedale Hills United Methodist Church
Our current Pastor, Rev. Sharon Williams, was appointed in July 2026. Pastor Sharon is an Elder in full connection in the Indiana Conference of The United Methodist Church with more than 20 years of experience in church revitalization, transformational leadership and intercultural ministry. Her ministry has included youth ministry and chaplain roles, multi-year conference level appointments in Indiana and Missouri, as well as pastorates in North Carolina, Nicaragua, Indianapolis, and most recently in Las Vegas, NV. She holds a B.S. in Engineering from Duke University and an M.Div. from Palmer Seminary; currently lives in Indianapolis and cherishes a host of support from friends and family, especially that of her husband, The Rev. Dr. Jacob C Williams Jr. (also a United Methodist Elder). Together, they share a joy for loving God’s church and encouraging congregations toward renewed vitality.

There is no dress code. We want you to feel at home so dress comfortably. Whatever you wear, we’re just glad you’re here.
What should I expect when I get there?
You’ll be warmly greeted and made to feel at home. Our worship is relaxed, and we try to be more like Jesus Christ. You’ll find that the worship service is simple to follow, and the teachings are meaningful and relevant to your life. We hope that at the end of the service, you’ll want to come back.
